A Story and A Custom “Mantra” Bracelet Giveaway

After ten long and difficult weeks of Marathon training I am now in my Taper. Hence the overabundance of blog posts, sparkly clean house, frequent showers and too much time on my hands to over think life. For awhile now, I have been pondering what “running mantra” is best suited to me. Nothing has ever felt right until I saw the Olympic Trials this past January and I heard mentioned that Shalane Flanagan said her mantra was “stone cold” it rang in my brain over and over again. Long run after long run it got me through the tough moments. It helped me stayed focused so I thought, OK maybe that’s it.

People who know me know that I am a pretty deep and, often times emotional person, so the fact that this resonated with me surprised a few. I liked the way “stone cold” worked for me but, it did not seem complete. Then on one very tough day I phoned my sister Kim in Colorado for a heart to heart and, when I asked her what I should do she said to me, “Let go and allow things to happen”. Those words came into my ear at the perfect time and flooded my brain, I listened to her and, all was well in my world again. My new running and life mantra is ” let go” “allow” “stone cold strength”.

I am not sure about too many things in my life but when I know something is right, I know. This was it and, I had to have it somewhere on my body on race day.

This is where Tracy from GeekDecree comes in. She makes these unreal and insanely cool custom leather cuff bracelets. When I placed my order, she had it made and delivered to me in two days. A true artist and a professional. It arrived in a beautiful box and a pink ribbon almost to pretty to rip open but I did and, it was more sweet than I had imagined. There was no way I would save this for race day, I had to put it on and it has not been off since! So many people have stopped me and asked where I got it from that, I contacted Tracy about doing a giveaway and, she agreed.

You can win your own custom running/life mantra cuff bracelet. They come in tan, black, dark brown, green and red and you can choose from silver or brass rivets. These bracelets are so special, made of the highest quality products and are truly one of kind.

  32. I love it! These bracelets are my favorite type of jewelry. I live by “Live Laugh Love” and it really helps in racing too – to remind myself that I’m supposed to have FUN when I run because that’s the whole reason why I do it!

  39. Your mantra is great! I had to take a few days to think about this.
    mine would be simple.

  43. What a cool bracelet and I am loving reading these mantras!
Mine is simple: Never Give Up.

  44. Liked your FB page too!

  45. Oh what would be appropriate?

    “just don’t go insane yet”

I like the Lorax line “Unless. Unless someone like ME cares an awful lot, things will not change, they will not”

I remind myself often “trust yourself.”

But probably I live by “Sacrifice. Be fearless. Try everything. Conquer. Win”

And my favorite phrase is “fail often” because failing is simply a stepping stone to succeeding, the worst thing you can do is let fear of failure stop you from trying!

I am over thinking this, huh?! Lol

  46. What an awesome giveaway! ONE of my many life long motto’s has been “actions speak louder than words” but I’m sure I can think up a few other good ones if I won:)
