For quite some time now, I have been thinking about doing a recurring post about the simple joy of heading out on a trail run. About once a week I meet with my pal Alison, and we hit the trails. Often times while out on these long runs we have some deep conversation, other times we talk about the mundane, and we always stop to enjoy our natural surroundings and marvel at how incredible the trails are. Something about being in the woods can make us spill our inner most thoughts. No matter what we talk about, we always get back in our cars feeling stronger, more centered, and more ready to take on the challenges of modern life.
We began calling it “Trail Confession”.
These posts are meant to be simple – just a photo and the basic idea of we we talked about with a question for you. Kind of like you’re out on a run with us.
Please join us weekly (or so) for “Trail Confession.”
This week we headed out for a 12 miler in Algonkian Regional Park in preperation for The North Face Endurance Challenge 50K that we will be doing June 2, 2012.
The Bluebells were in full bloom.. it was a sea of blue.. they are a site to behold.
Can you believe how gorgeous this trail run is? It was 12 miles of simple beauty..amazing!
WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT
How marriage and children is no fairy tale, but how lucky we were to have our amazing husbands to go through life with.
You can read about them here (Rob) and here (Stuart).
What is something you love about your partner?
What is something funny about your partner you could live without?

I’d love to start a little trail running. Looks so peaceful out there
Looking forward to more trail confessions!
Thank you Kierston, it is so peaceful.. wish you could join us! Have a great weekend.
I love trail running and don’t do it nearly enough. So great that you guys get out there every week–and that you have a chance to spill to each other like that! North Face is tempting…
Amanda, it would be so great if you did North Face, you would have such a good base as you ar coming out of Boston and as you know, trails are so different.. really slow and enjoyable. Talk some of your running girls into doing it.. it will be a adventure! You will be on my mind this weekend.. big giant hug! xoxo
Did I know you were running a 50k?! Amazing! I love your trail confessions. One of the things I love about my husband is that he likes to clean things up immediately (pay the bills asap, get the dishes cleaned, laundry put away, whatever) – it’s also the thing I could live without sometimes.
Laura, Thank you for joining us on trail confessions
..that made me laugh about your hubs, it’s funny how the thing that attracts us often times can bug. With that said, better to have a quick bill payer than a slow one. My husband snores, not his fault but I’m pretty tired some days and I bet his shoulder is pretty sore from me hitting him.
trail confessions are a great idea! those bluebells are simply gorgeous. i bet i’d enjoy running more along a trail. it’d add a little adventure and challenge to keep me entertained and keep my mind active! and having a chatting buddy helps a ton, i’m sure.
You would be fun to have along Cait.. Have a great weekend <3
I run with my BFF Gale a LOT over the years. We’ve shared anything and everything and then some more. During the 25K 2 weeks ago we were too tired to speak “politely” so we were just blunt. We were talking about guys vs girls and which parts we want and why. It started with needing to pee in the woods and ended with me declaring how I’m glad when I’m going solo I don’t need a sock. TMI? hahaha
Julie, this is so funny! I want so badly to go out on the trails with you and Gail..NOT TMI, exactly why I posted this so we could all share. What is about running that makes us spill? Thank you so much for “Confessing” I really appreciate you stopping by and hope we can trail run again next time! xo Have a great weekend.
Running on trails with other girls is the best. Nothing is off limits or tmi to talk about. Excited to hear you are training for a 50K. I’m jealous!!
Have fun training!!
Thank you Kris.. I feel the same way, the trails are like a Vegas girls weekend… haha! Come out with us sometime! Thank you for your comments!! xoxo
